Join the “1000 Books Club” sponsored by the Chesley Memorial Library. The program is open to any child from birth to the start of kindergarten. Reading aloud to children at birth strengthens their language and vocab skills– important tools for learning to read when they enter kindergarten.

Thank you for joining Susie Spikol and the Library for another successful program! Our Animal Adventurers go forth to follow animal tracks, chase fireflies, and more. Thanks for coming out!
The Chesley Memorial Library was able to offer the program through a recurring grant from the Robert C. Grano Charitable Fund to commemorate the generosity of Joseph Grano in donating the funds to build the Theodora Kalem Grano Memorial Wing in 1991. “Joseph Grano Children’s Initiative” programs promote exploration of the natural world, music, art, diverse cultures, adventure travel, and craftsmanship.

Thank you, Lydia Pinard!
Lydia Pinard hosted What is Marine Science at the library on July 20th for our Ocean of Possibilities Summer Reading to great success! Young readers learned the names of the oceans, different ocean animals, looked at ocean waves, and found out how to distinguish between vertebrates and non-vertebrates. Thank you, Grano Children's Initiative, for sponsoring this event and expect more like this in the future!

We raffled off four tickets to a Fisher Cats game at What is Maine Science, and the winner has been selected.

WINTER ACTIVITY/READING CHALLENGE
Congratulations to our Winter Activity/Reading Challenge winner, Kaylee Hummel! Kaylee read a non-fiction book, a new book, a book suggested by a librarian, a book with snow in the title, a book with a blue cover, a fairy tale, an award winner, a book with winter in the title, a book that was made into a movie…and still found time to play a board game, do an art project, build a snowman, and listen to an audiobook! Kaylee picked up her gift bag with an assortment of prizes that will help her to enjoy more reading as well as get her ready to enjoy some outside spring activities. Great job reading, Kaylee! |
We hosted a Teddy Bear Sleepover at the Chesley Memorial Library! The teddy bears (and other stuffed friends!) were invited to a sleepover at the Library on Wednesday, July 28, to celebrate Christmas in July. Children brought cuddly friends, listened to some Christmas stories, and enjoyed a light snack. They tucked their friends in for the night and came back to the library on Thursday, July 29, to bring their friends home.
