HELPING CHILDREN UNDERSTAND CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)
This free online illustrated book for children talks about how 2020 Spring was a different time that changed things, about the Covid-19 virus, and things kids can do to help prevent the spread of the disease to help end the pandemic. Simply click the button and then click on the story book cover to start the book.
TAKE AND MAKE CRAFTS
If you are a current 6th grader or 7th grader interested in serving on the 2021-2022 Flume and Isinglass Awards committee, please contact the Chesley Memorial Library at 942-5472 for an application before May 17, 2021. As a Teen Book Awards Ambassador, your main tasks would be to read and review nominated books, to attend monthly virtual check-in meetings and to attend the Flume & Isinglass committee meeting in March 2022, where you will share your opinions about the books you have read, and whether they should be on next year's short list. This is a 10-month commitment, from June 2021 - March 2022. You must have a librarian (school or community) or English/Language Arts teacher complete the Librarian/Teacher Nomination Form.
PLEASE NOTE: Even if you have applied for this position in the past, you will need to submit a NEW librarian/teacher nomination. A committee member will be in touch to let you know if you have been selected as a Teen Book Awards Ambassador by May 24th.

The NH Teen Poet Laureate (NHTPL) is an honorary one-year position held by a NH high school student who has shown dedication to and excellence in writing, and who demonstrates the enthusiasm to share it with the public. The NHTPL serves as an ambassador who will heighten the visibility and value of poetry by and for young people in New Hampshire.
The program is coordinated by the Poetry Society of New Hampshire in collaboration with the New Hampshire State Council of the Arts.
The NH Teen Poet Laureate is an honorary, unpaid position. Each Teen Poet Laureate can serve a maximum of one term which will run from September 1 to August 31 each school year. The NHTPL will have an opportunity to assist in the management of an online zine for the purpose of publishing teen poets.

Plan a trip to the Boston Museum of Science or Museum of Fine Arts in Boston with one of the passes sponsored by the Friends of the Northwood Libraries.

The library has a lovely new cedar chest to house our dress-up collection in memory of library trustee Pat Bondelevitch.
If you have dress-up clothes or costumes you would like to donate, please bring them in. We have enjoyed seeing pirates, turtles, and fairies float around the children’s room. (Please no hats or headgear!)
