BOOK DISCUSSION GROUPS
When our first book group started they met at 7 o'clock in the evening once a month. Donna Bunker, host and library director, realized that many of our patrons were interested in having a book club experience but did not feel comfortable driving in the twilight hours. She then decided to start another group that meets at 2 o'clock in the afternoon in an attempt to accommodate all of our loyal readers.

Local writers — whether beginner, much published, or somewhere in between — are invited to a free biweekly writers’ workshop on Tuesdays from 2:00 to 3:30 pm at the Chesley Memorial Library. Sessions include group critique, writing exercises, and craft discussion. Some participants may want to come early or stay late for some quiet writing time. All genres welcome. Get some writing done this year, learn from each other, and have some fun, too! Local writers will take turns leading the group sessions.
Knitting group for all who knit, advanced or beginners, as we work together to complete projects. For newcomers, Sharon offers an in-depth step-by-step approach to your speed with all the basic techniques needed for your first creations. For long-time knitters, Sharon offers insight and discussion on yarn types, new projects to explore, and a listening ear.
Knitting with Sharon is currently on hiatus, but feel free to come in to talk to us about the group. We hope to start up again soon.

Come on in for a chance to chat, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, and sample some delicious goodies while you visit.
According to an article written by Emily Brandon for U.S. News: “There is no clearly defined age when an American becomes a senior citizen. Some people might consider themselves seniors when they are invited to join AARP, qualify for Medicare, or officially retire from the workplace. Some 96 percent of current 50-year-olds don’t consider themselves senior citizens and only slightly over half (56 percent) of 64-year-olds say the term senior citizen applies to them.” Sounds like a good topic for discussion at one of our meetings! -------------------------------------------------- What is a Senior Café? A place to gather and socialize for older folks from Northwood and surrounding towns. (We're handicap accessible so don't let that stop you from joining us.) Caretakers are welcome to stay with seniors for the café but can also enjoy some time away on their own if appropriate. Please call the library at 603-942-5472 if you would like more information. |
