Search for Books and DVDs
NOTE: A general Search for items can be done before you log on to your account by using the Search tools but you cannot RESERVE a book without logging in to your account.
(Remember the Home tab will always return you to the catalog Home page and will not save your search)
Our Virtual Card Catalog gives you 4 different Search Options
Option 1:
The quick search bar on the home page of our catalog is the fastest way to search if you know what you are looking for. Searching to see if we have a specific book in the library or browsing a list of books by an author takes seconds. The options below offer in-depth searches and topic searches which help when conducting research on a topic or seeing options available within a genre.
Option 2:
This option is located in the TOP LEFT HAND CORNER of your screen and provides 3 methods for you to search.
"Advanced" Button
Advanced search allows you to input detailed and specific information related to your search. You can narrow down your results by inputting multiple keywords, specifying author information, copyright information, media type and more. If you are conducting research, this is the best method to find specific media.
"Combo" Search
Combo search is a simplified version of advanced search and allows you to input multiple fields. You can specify author, title, and subject and data can be entered in any or all of the fields.
"Media" Button
Media search allows you to search media types that aren't traditional books. This includes audio books, DVDs, eBooks, and Videos. Simply enter your keyword search in the top search bar and specify the format you are looking for.
Option 2:
Option 2 is a tab located DIRECTLY BELOW OPTION 1, select the "Home" tab.
The nice part about the Search Tab is that it gives the description of all the search options available to you, select the Red Word that describes the type of search you feel most comfortable with.
Option 3:
Option 3 is a Visual search tab located in the top left corner.
Visual search allows you to search for items using images. Select a category as shown below and then it will provide several options within the category. From there, you select the revelvant option until you receive the list results. In the example below, we selected general interests, sports, and then football.
The search results provided several related books, DVDs, and CDs. You can filter out the results on the left side of the screen to narrow it down to a specific type of media by selecting the desired media type or age group.
